Getting a Behind-the-Scenes Look at FUNC
I never realized how much work goes on behind the scenes of a live show until I observed a FUNC taping. I wasn’t operating a camera or running audio, but just being in the room and watching the production happen gave me a whole new appreciation for it. The energy behind the scenes is just as exciting as what the audience sees on screen.
One thing that stood out to me was how each anchor had their own dedicated camera during filming. I also noticed that the anchors weren’t memorizing a script beforehand and they read it live, shifting their focus naturally as the topics changed. Seeing how smoothly they adapted in real time made me realize how much preparation and teamwork are needed to keep everything running without a mistake.
FUNC showed me that student television is about more than just producing content. It’s a place where students can practice real-world skills like teamwork, quick thinking, and creative problem solving. Even though I was just observing, I could see how important it is to stay flexible and work closely with others when creating live media.
This experience made me excited to pursue more opportunities in production, whether it’s through broadcasting, digital storytelling, or other creative projects. The skills I observed, communication, adaptability, and collaboration, are ones I know will be valuable in any media career I choose to pursue.
